Rich in history: The former train station-turned-rental home

Designed and renovated by Kyo-Co Atelier, La Micheline is a modern reinterpretation of a classic train station in Bioul, Belgium.

Plenty of space

What was once a simple train station has taken on new life thanks to both Stephane Lebrun of Kyo-Co and the interiors of Jean-Lux Laloux. A classic silhouette provides space for friends and families alike to enjoy the Belgian countryside, its 25-acre lot located just an hour away from the capital city of Brussels. Complete with three en-suite bedrooms, a living and dining room with stunning vaulted ceilings and a huge loft with plenty of additional space, the dynamic duo of Lebrun and Laloux have truly transformed this into an enviable home.

Old meets new

While the history of the train station is conveyed through the train tracks which snake across the property – and which additionally provide endless fun for little ones – the interiors also succeed in combining heritage style with modern sensibilities throughout the home. The use wood and stone both nod to historical building practices while maintaining a cool, sleek feel, and slick glazing, modular beds and a contemporary fireplace make it known that this is definitely not a space stuck in the past.
